Mammals of Asia
Southeast Asia
Mammals that live in Southeast Asia include several types of gibbons, squirrels, small species of deer, the Sumatran tiger, and the Asian elephant, which is smaller than its African relative. Many animals in Asia are struggling for survival due to hunting by both the native people and travelers from the west.
South Asia
Well known mammals of south Asia include the Bengal tiger, the red panda, and the yak, a hairy species of bovine, or cow.
Southwest Asia
Southwest Asia includes portions of the Middle East, so mammals found in this region usually live in deserts, rather than the jungles associated with other parts of Asia. The Egyptian fruit bat, honey badger, and jackal are all found in this area.
